Thursday she was all set and ready to go, HOURS before her first official activity ever.
I tried not to think about the swim lessons, music classes, playschools, preschools, workshops, classes, etc I put her big brother in by the time he was this age!!
She was so excited and I had everything planned out, or so I thought. I got a text from our neighbor (as we were getting ready to load up the car), asking where little a was, since she was to be in the class with her BFF twins K&S. Um. I got the time wrong. Like, an hour wrong. She missed her first gymnastics class! EPIC MOMMYFAIL #1 of the day!
(Drew wins for snapping the cutest picture of her!! must be those cute bangs I am debating letting her keep!) What a sassypants. She loved the sign so much (she has seen me make signs for D for school) she asked if she could take it to class with her, bless her heart.
So we all went out for free ice cream night at Graeters and I promised her a "mommy ginnastics class" on the trampoline after the ice cream.
I took her outside and she was jumping with our neighbors (the older girls who live next door), and she got all sweaty, which I didn't even think about until about an hour after we had been jumping when she ran upstairs to use the bathroom (and because she is so independence she put on clothes by herself and likes to use the bathroom solo) and suddenly I heard frustrated, exasperated little a... and realized she probably couldn't take off her leotard to use the bathroom because she was so sweaty!! I raced up the stairs to hear I CANT STOP THE PEEEEE and sure enough, total accident all over the bathroom floor and my poor girl was just DEVASTATED. This girl was a BREEZE to potty train, because it was such a traumatic experience to potty train her brother, that was the only way I was going to let her be potty trained!! It happened so naturally, so easily, and she has been so on top of it, that the handful of times she does have an accident it is devastating to her. Poor thing MOMMYFAIL #2 of the day! I should have just taken off that leotard as soon as she came in but I didn't. So I cleaned her up, reassured her she did nothing wrong, and got her ready for bed.
After I put her to bed, I realized I had never called the gymnastics class to officially reserve her spot!!! (so sorry Cristin!!!) MOMMYFAIL #3 of the day!! I called the gym and sure enough, the teacher confirmed that she was pretty sure the class was full, someone had wanted to get a spot this morning and had to be turned down... but as luck would have it (the one lucky point of my day!!), ONE spot had just opened up because a girl had aged out of the class!! Hallelujah! After confirming that K&S were for sure in that same class, I got her registered and all is good. She can makeup the class and she starts for REAL this upcoming Thursday.
Phew.
