summer 2018 recap

This summer flew by faster than I was able to keep up with, but thankfully I took plenty of pictures to jog my memory!

The start of this year's summer began with a few weekends in a row of (free) food truck meals! It was fun to experiment and try different foods, even if our kids stuck with the same grilled cheese/plain hamburgers most days.
but once we started inviting the neighbors it felt more like a double/triple/etc date night, where the adults could just chat and the kids ran around like crazies around the barren fields.
The boys all got their cute summer buzzes and we spend a lot of afternoons biking or scooting to the splash pad to watch its progress.
also lots of movies... 10 movies in 10 weeks in 5 different movie theaters! we crazy.
unfortunately the first summer without naps backfired on me daily as I tried so hard to wear them out by early afternoon I usually did myself as well!
we went to two Crubl openings and got probably the combined chocolate chip equivalent of a small child.

we visited gravesites of recently departed family members
the only summer movie that was not in the movie series that we went to go see the last weekend of summer: (Teen titans, not Meg)
we still need to see HT3
lots of indoor and outdoor pool time coupled with watching Drew play some softball

one of the highlights was our trip to Montana for a few days
 /

I moved the bunk beds (previously in A's room), separated, to the twins rooms and "finished" their rooms by putting up their avengers themed canvases.
Oh right we did see the incredibles so make that two full-priced movies we saw with the kids (two too many probably)
we did princess night at the orem owlz

the kids did a decent job playing together (But at the end was SO MUCH FIGHTING) and playing with neighbors
 I got a decent father's dy pic

 little d's birthday celebrations.....
final trip to the dino museum to see the RUTH DINOSAUR
finally got to play in the new splash pad!
my parents and inlaws came into town so we did the train up to SLC for the first time

 little d got baptized

 tennis with grandpa!

the LONGEST ANTICIPATED SPLASH PAD in the history of Utah
the sandals that saved us this summer... but always backwards or the both took the SAME SIDE of shoe! (two lefts on one boy and two rights on another!)
little d started collecting his money and buying regular things on his own like concessions
one of the rare days we made it to the rec pool right at 10am....where it is barren like this till noon! heaven!

 visited cosmo at the park
finally convinced Drew to come with us swimming once then started his flag football season
which of course started off cold and rainy! boo.
the big kids started school so I got some more time with the twinners!
and got them their second haircuts of the summer/prek haircuts
went on a couple of dates but most importantly, made it to the temple once with Drew thanks to our awesome YW! This was the day that Drew and I became Aunt and Uncle to Baby G and we also got the change to decide between two wonderful job opportunities. I think we made the right choice! I loved going there with so much anxiety and questions and coming out feeling happiness and calm.
impromptu visit (like most of our unplanned summer) to a cars and planes show down south

 "LIGHTNING MCQUEEN!"
it was like 100 degrees but we all got free sunglasses so it was worth it haha!
definitely one of the hottest summers we have ever had, but we made the best of it! Onto the FALL!
