January is typically the longest month for me... this year was no exception. Even looking back through these pictures I think to myself, did that all happen in the same month?!
saying our goodbyes to the kevs before my parents took him for a monthone last rec center swim! (because I had done all the organizing and cleaning and house packing I could manage for once!)
last visit to granny's grave for her birthday, celebrating after swimming earlier by eating brownies
last visit to Dad's office and they happened to have donuts!
Boom. Did that by myself between right after christmas and first week of january.
Last temple date night before the move!
lots of game playing since all the toys were packed away, also the twins got down to just mattresses and suitcases which they loved
I went to visit the Missionary Training Center with the youth and loved it so much I decided to schedule a time for our family to go before we left.
One of our last walks in the neighborhood
it just keeps on growing....
little d's new years resolutions for 2019 (he made them before I did!)
Best part of 2018 was having my first cousin...

one and only music performance in half day kinder
visit to the MTC with M&S
last lunch with A's BF and his fam
skate night with the school (aka free) on Friday night, followed by our last Utah Saturday morning to Maglebys for a mother daughter brunch date:
aaaaaand home depot trip because Lan decided with a week to go before closing to make more holes in his bedroom wall:
Little d has his last Utah basketball game (that I now realize I only have videos and no photos of!)
Saturday night we were lucky enough to be in town for Concessa's son's wedding reception! I love any excuse to see her and now I am going to have to make some up since I won't be in Utah which is just the gathering place!
And because I am crazy and the clippers were packed away in the truck (we packed the truck a week before we actually left Utah), we did Cookie Cutter's for the boys (A got a hair trim from Becca only a week or so ago!) and they cleaned up nicely!
It also happened to be a week of crazy amounts of snow! Sarah and McKay came over and he and d helped shovel it (and of course all our snow pants were packed in the truck that was halfway across the country!)
ALL the SCREEN TIME this month. Unlimited, all you can tolerate.
Last Tuesday we were in Utah we did the only logical thing to do on a weekday school night... $5 movie at our favorite movie theater down the street. We will miss that proximity! Spiderman in to the Spiderverse did not dissappoint! Came home to the saddest my house has ever looked... thankfully neighbors and friends gave us meals the last few days so I could pack up my kitchen when the truck left.
So sad and empty...
final goodbyes on our last day...
Last dinner with Sarah and Mckay at BYU
sadddest goodbyes to our next door neighbors/BFFs
and to our favorite puppies Olive and Wax (buried under A)
Then post move unpacking was like Christmas a month late (which is good because this is all I asked for for Christmas this past year!!), especially discovering their costumes which they had not seen in almost two months.
A's BF made her this sweet drawing before we left of her and him and it just melts my heart.
I was terrible at registering the kids, so even though we moved into the house on Monday, I was so preoccupied with move-in stuff that took much longer than I anticipated so we got to the schools too late to register. I went to register the kids on Tuesday and the earliest they could start was Wednesday, but would you believe we had our first calamity/snow day (because of crazy below freezing temps!) on Wednesday! Thursday was their first day, but for some reason while little A was totally ready to go to kindergarten and had met her teacher and everything, they wanted me to bring little d in in person (I think because they had not assigned him a class yet?) so long story short there was a two hour delay due to cold for A's first day of full day kinder (which made it feel more like half day) and she rode the bus BY HERSELF to school for the first time EVER. So brave, that girl, but she was so excited to eat lunch and ride a bus to school and all the things she has always associated with cool things to do at a school.
Here's their first day! We took A to the bus stop, then had an hour to kill before I could drop off little d so we did back to school shopping/grocery, dropped off little d with his school supplies at school, dropped off A's school supplies at her school (she's in a primary school which is prek through 1st grade, little d's elementary is 2nd-5th grade), came home and unloaded and then it was time to pickup the kids at the bus stop! Made for a quick first day and the second day was ALSO a two hour delay (and then it was the weekend!) so the big kids got an easy transition into their new schools. Both made friends (Noah and Daisy) on the first day in their classes and met some of the neighbors by riding the bus with them.
playing Uno because we were so early ready for school ...
The house on the left, in the background is my house, the twins standing at the bus stop. I can see the bus stop from my kitchen window. LOVE LOVE LOVE that.
I loved this driveway space so much till I had to shovel it all... thankfully it is the first house we have lived in that has sun on the front almost all day long, which helps to melt the snow!
Thursday night I drove all the way up to Indianapolis to meet up at Costco with Anna and Derick, who graciously brought home my beloved Cordoba TV stand/console. Our first meetup of 3 in the first week of being in Indiana!!!
And that was it! February started and somehow January felt simultaneously years long and gone in a blink of an eye.
