Heart of Africa
We started off the day with crying. Like big fat crocodile tears streaming down his face and into his Rice Krispies. The biggest downside of visiting family is the backlash I get once we are home...he misses Anna so much the only way I can console him is to agree to FaceTime her, and then grandpa mike (because one "I miss them" triggers another one...) and then I promised him a visit to heart of Africa at the zoo to feed the giraffes. Geez. The things I do for this kid.
As promised, our inagural visit and it may be my new favorite at the columbus zoo. Mostly because how can you beat lions, zebras and giraffes? You can't. Dk even accompanied us.

Waiting in line to feed the giraffes.
Monkey see monkey do....
"I can't even believe it!!!"
"Ooookayyyy... I guess they eat salad?" (His guess was carrots)
$3 for 3 seconds of this. Totally worth seeing the purple tongue.
Then went onto the monkeys
And lions! This was my favorite because you can go inside this old school plane and view the lions from inside of it
She learned how to "rawr" today at the lions(!!!!).
And then of course they flew the plane, like uncle mike ;)

My not so victorious "garden"
The good news is I can grow grass. (Front and center). The bad news is even with miracle grow and constant watering and care, I have managed to kill the basil, tomato plants, and parsley. Somehow the raspberry bush, green beans plant, and squash have survived... Who knows for how long. I don't know how I was able to make such an amazing garden in Utah and not here in glorious green Ohio.

Two days of fun and happiness with this guy
No sisters, no dad, no problem! He loved all the attention (obviously) and hopefully his happy demeanor continues well after this little trip.
We took approximately 7 hours to drive 5 hours. Lots of pit stops.
Like this candle shop and playground on the side of the highway.
Finally made it to Anna's.
Pizza breaks, Dino nuggets and lots of biking and playing at the half dozen parks around here.
Funny story: he was using the toilet to stand on to wash his hands.... And fell in! (Why he left the lid up is beyond me) his shoes were soaked (but clean thankfully) so we spent the rest of the day carrying him around.

Sort of excited... This trip marks the start of our summer travels!

13 months of little a
1. The hair is finally starting to grow (!!) putting sunscreen in her hair the day before makes for awesome bed head the next day.

2. We call this "crazyface" and it does triple duty by making people laugh (which she loves to do), showing off her daddy's dimples and obviously showing off her teeth. Cuteness trifecta.

3. Still obsessed with her bunny and kitty.
4. Started getting into pushing toys around a month ago and has graduated to running around the house with said push toys.
5. Still not walking. But can stand for a few seconds solo.

6. One of her favorite hobbies invovles finding my necklaces and putting them all on.

7. Wants to feed herself with utensils. It's messy but she loves it.

8. Still has that impressed face... "Oh!" (Pictured here while watching frozen)

9. She's strong!
10. Still haven't found a pair of shoes she will keep on like she did those gold shoes.

11. Flops on her back and plays dead just to be silly. Sort of like a turtle On his back when she tries to get up... Reminds me of when she did this like 8 months ago, except now it's on purpose ;) also likes to bend down and look between her legs.

12. Loves being naked because that usually means bath time! She can perfectly sign more, eat, milk, bath, all done. Being goofy:

13. You know when she makes this face that she wants a kiss! I am working on teaching her to grab my face with both hands to plant a kiss on me because why not?
