This past weekend was Kana's wedding at the chateau pomije, this darling little winery in Indiana.
She really out-pinterested herself. I was blown away and taking serious notes for whenever my sisters get married.
Planned out every single detail.
I still remember when she told me about Ryan.... She was in Paris and I had sworn to her I would be at her wedding no matter what. She announced her engagement when I was pregnant with A, but thankfully it wasn't a Mormon wedding so she took a year to plan it and gave me enough advance notice that I was able to ship off the littles to grandparents for the weekend for a romantic wedding getaway with my husband... Or so I thought. Dealersocket announced two weeks before the wedding they were going to send him off to Hawaii that week. His loss.
My first trip to a vineyard.
I was super impressed.
I did try the grapes... So tart! But they were adorable and I guess they made for good wine... Everyone else spent most of the weekend drinking it :/
Le chateau
The we headed to the bed and breakfast after the initial set up. My first b&b experience and I LOVED it.
How could you not love waking up at 8am to the smell of bacon instead of poopy diaper? (Tmi?)
Wedding day was so gorgeous... And since photos weren't till 2pm I had FIVE hours to get ready. What?!?! So obviously I had to go for a run around the 50 acre property.
Met the horses
Trails!!! So muddy and buggy but a fun little mile loop.
I was terrified when I heard rustling... And then I found this turtle!
Adorable. I picked him up and he did not like that one bit. I've never seen a reddish turtle.
Post run I continued with my Nike training plan app outside, didn't have weights so I attempted to modify. Still managed to work up a crazy sweat angel.
Soooooooo humid. I don't usually sweat that much but I had sweat literally pouring off my face. Total detox.
Then I still had four hours to do hair and makeup. What a luxury! I even managed to get some reading and work done for primary in between.
Tiffany and morgann were friends from OSU, Rena is Kana's sister and I was the high school friend. Obviously I didn't get the hair up and high heels memo. Whoops!
Kana's favorite part of our dresses was the back, because they matched the "v" on hers. Anyone who knows me well enough knows that backless and sleeveless is not my usual wear, at least not since I went through the temple when I got married. But I respected Kana's decision as the bride, and will figure out something creative to make the dress suit my typical Sunday modesty so I can wear it again.
We were crazy nervous about the potential rain on wedding day... We had nothing to worry about since the weather was perfect! Super hot and humid but lovely for photos.
Loved this cake! They officially started their relationship in Paris even though they knew each other in high school. And if you look closely you can see their cat Noel in the foreground.
She hasn't aged a day in 10 years! Gah I love her so much.
I still can't get over her dress. It was unbelievable! Also her 6 inch heels are why she towered over me.
The wedding party making their way down the hill!
I couldn't stop crying. And unfortunately I do not cry pretty.
Married!
First dance.
Post wedding dinner was delicious.
And we had a ton of fun dancing, photo boothing, eating too much and having a good time. We sparkler-ed them out at 10 and I booked it home in record time to surprise mr. D, who wasn't expecting me home till the next day.
Not that he missed me too much, but with a view like this I can't blame him.
But I missed him like crazy with all the wedding business, and while I had a good weekend solo, it was so good to wake up to this handsome face this morning! Life is good.
